American Life League's Crusade for the Defense of Our Catholic Church has released the latest in a multi-ad campaign identifying pro-abortion "Catholic" public figures. The newest Deadly Dozen ad points out that the defense of innocent human life is not a partisan issue. The ad includes pro-abortion "Catholic" public figures from both the Republican and Democrat parties. "The Church's teachings on abortion are very clear," said Judie Brown, president of American Life League. "Simply stated, you can't be both Catholic and pro-abortion." The ad includes many notable "Catholic" public figures such as California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, New York Gov. George Pataki, and Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry. The ad will be featured in the Washington Times (a special edition of the paper will be delivered to the area surrounding the Republican National Convention in New York) and several other national newspapers. "This Crusade and the ad campaign are imploring America's Catholic bishops to properly educate public officials who have shown a blatant disregard for the Church's teachings on abortion and the reception of Holy Communion," said Brown. "Furthermore, we are encouraging the bishops to take the steps necessary to end this ongoing scandal, including withholding Holy Communion from these high-profile individuals until they recant their pro-abortion stance." Tuesday's ad release will coincide with two pro-life counter-demonstrations at events associated with the Republican National Convention in New York City. The first demonstration will be Monday night, August 30, outside the Stand-Up for Choice-Big Tent Republicans for Choice Extravaganza. The other demonstration will take place outside Tuesday night's Republicans for Choice black tie fundraiser.
